How I Work

I believe the best partnerships start with honesty. I’m selective about the projects I take on, and I won’t pretend to be the right writer for every assignment. I often pitch fresh ideas to publications, but other times editors reach out to me with specific assignments. Many of those turn out to be a perfect fit.

If we talk and I believe I’m a good fit, I’ll bring curiosity, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to telling the story well. If I’m not the right person, I’ll be upfront about that too. Through my involvement with the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) and the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), I’ve built relationships with many other professional writers. When possible, I’m happy to point you toward someone who may be a better match.

I also care deeply about the places I write about. Whether I’m covering a destination, an outdoor experience, a wildlife story, or a piece of gear, I strive to approach my work in a way that respects nature, supports responsible travel, and encourages people to enjoy the outdoors without loving it to death.

Have a Story to Tell?

Whether you’re an editor with an assignment, a destination with an idea, a PR professional with a story lead, or an outdoor brand with something interesting on the horizon, I’d love to hear from you.

There’s always another story to tell.
